LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
December 2009
Greetings Northeast Michigan SCI members,
I hope that you all had a safe and successful fall hunting season. Things have been very busy since my last letter to the membership. I was lucky enough to spend some time afield with few of our donating outfitters, and will be enjoying some excellent table fare through the holidays as a result of these adventures. The quality and professionalism of our outfitters are truly second to none in the industry.
In my last letter I mentioned our two Michigan hero hunters, and our Safari Wish hunter. We are happy to announce that they all had incredible adventures with their respective outfitters. Army Sgt. E5 David Purol took a nice 5X5 with Rene and Kelly Semple of South Paw Outfitters. Army Sgt. E5 Justin Grosinski spent a fun week with Alan Wardale of Moose Country Outfitters. Late season moose hunting with a full moon, and unseasonably warm temperatures is not a easy task. Justin said they really enjoyed their time in the wilds of northern Alberta, and truly understand the meaning of adventure. Our Safari Wish hunter Tim Perkins took a beautiful whitetail deer with Jackpine Safaris. It went down to the wire, and Tim took his buck at last light of the last evening. I would like to congratulate our hunters, and thank our outfitters for their continued support!
Our 1st annual Patriots Day Celebration took place september12th at the Alpena Civic Center. The event was well attended and our keynote speaker Shane Mahoney delivered a speech to be remembered. Many thanks to our sponsors and attendees for making this a success. We also had our annual Christmas party on December 13th. We had 35 participants who were treated to some holiday cheer, and a wonderful meal served by Lynn Hall and his staff. The 4 hunt raffle ticket was drawn as scheduled and won by Bob Skuse of Alpena, Michigan. Congrats, Bob!!
This drawing was a success and thank you to everyone involved.
We have many exciting things in the works for our March 5th and 6th fundraiser, and you won’t want to miss it. Our list of auction items is on our website at www.nemisci.com. If you have any questions about the fundraiser please feel free to contact either myself (mgauthier@iserv.net) or auction chairman Floyd Moore (moorenemisci@hotmail.com) at our respective email addresses. I hope to see all of you at this event and ask you to encourage others to both attend and become a member of this organization. We all can be very proud of the great things accomplished by a small chapter with such a big heart.
Happy Holidays,
Scott Gauthier
